Michael graduated from UWA medical school in 1988 and obtained his FRCPA in Anatomical Pathology in 1995.

He was a consultant pathologist at RPH from 1996-1999. In 1997 he completed post graduate studies in dermatopathology at St Thomas Hospital London, under Philip McKee and Eduardo Calonje. From 1999-2006 he worked in private pathology.

In 2007, Michael joined Perth Pathology and held roles as Director of Cytology & Director of Anatomical Pathology. Here he helped to establish, manage and grow the AP service into a busy, thriving, independent practice. 

During this time, he was a sessional consultant at PathWest KEMH, and currently holds a consultant position at PathWest, FSH, and RPH where he is a core member of the specialist GI Pathology team.

Michael is an invited examiner in Pathology at Notre Dame Medical School. His areas of special interest are GI pathology, dermatopathology and gynaecological pathology.

He is a member of the Australasian Gastrointestinal Pathology Society (AGPS).

In April 2019, Michael joined Clinipath Pathology.
